  1. What an experience it is to visit an outdoor market, full of colours and smell. You bring the best in them through photography and that little extra classy touch.

  2. LL,
    Renonculus are my favorite flower!

I am looking fwd to Farmers’ Markets soon……what, no beets this week?

  3. Those flower bouquets are so beautiful (and cheap!) I bought 6 tulips today at WalMart for $5! It is not warm enough here for local flowers yet. Our farmer’s market doesn’t open until the first Saturday in May (and then it’s quite sparse) but I’m waiting!

  4. Favorite farmer’s market item? Hmmm. We’re so lucky here in So Cal, that’s a hard one. I’d have to say when the stone fruits, peaches, pluots, etc are perfect it just can’t be beat. Todd

  5. Hi Lori, great blog, I just love your photos, My favourite farmers market items is Mangoes, At their greates during the summer months. Thanks for sharing

  6. I’m a sucker for the berries. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries….I love them all.

    Beautiful pictures!

  7. Mmmm. This looks so good. We moved over the summer. I can’t wait to check out the farmer’s markets in our new town. I usually pick up fruit or whatever looks different or interesting. I love finding the local favorites.

  8. The only thing better than presents are food packets with an edible surprise.

Looks like a fine day at the market.

  9. At our farmer’s market, I go for the fresh falafels first and then head over to the pate and terrine stands….

  10. Oh, my mouth is watering right now looking at ll of these yummy photos. I love chicken tamales! Yum!

  11. Lovely market pics! I love all veggies and fruits at the market and usually buy MUCH more than I need. Just being there completely hypes me up!

  12. Too much fun! The pictures of the flowers are just amazing. I never get all the way down to the farmer’s market in Union Square, but I do love the fact that I can walk to any corner of nyc and find a fruit stand!

  13. A day at the Farmer’s Market is a gift to yourself! Everything is fresh, colorful and enticing!! Love the pictures of the flowers too 🙂

  14. omg – signs of spring! could it be? those pictures are bringing a tear to my eye. right now i would say my fave thing to buy at a farmers market would be any veg that you can only buy in the spring months. i’m DYING for spring to arrive here. i can barely stand it anymore. i can’t wait to see green – at the farmers market or in my backyard!

  15. Finding this cuisine here is rare and not regular. When you walk into our market you can instantly smell pea meal bacon on a bun. It’s pretty hard to resist – I have to keep telling myself it’s loaded with sodium and really bad for you.

  16. Oh my Lori Lynn, these photos are gorgeous. Did i tell you I was born in San Pedro? a LONG time ago. 🙂 I love peaches in the summer, i can’t get enough. Have you been to the Farmers Market in San Luis Obispo? You would love it I’m sure! It’s worth a trip.

  17. I ran over as soon as I saw tamales. I miss being able to eat them so easily. I don’t find the time to get around to them, but now this has me hankering them. The colors of the market are wonderful as it has yet to green up just yet up here.

  18. What wonderful pictures.
We only have farmers markets during certain months out of the year here in Utica. Usually they are on Thursdays and I’m working so my experience with Farmer’s Markets is next to non-existent.

  19. Lori Lynn, Farmers markets already? Lucky you! I could go for one of those tamales right now! All the flowers look beautiful!

  20. Thanks Everyone. I cherish your comments, as always, it is so neat to hear from you!

    Specifically:

Everyone who commented about the Farmers Market open now. Oh gosh, we are just too fortunate, in Southern California, the Farmers Markets are open year round. I hope we don’t come to take that for granted.

Stace – no beets, haha. Oy, it will be a while…
Bren – I would love to taste your Pico de Gallo!
Nina – oh, falafels, my favorite at the County Fair, bar none!
WANF – oh, it’s right around the corner!
Giz? what is that? pea meal bacon?
Lori ann – San Pedro, ha, you are my twin. And I love SLO, when I go next time I will be sure to put Farmers Market on my list.

    Thanks again to all!
    Lori Lynn

  21. Oh I just wrote this long thing and then I got some error message! ;-(

Anyway… Don’t you just love farmer’s markets! We have great tamales at ours too. I make my kids pick out one fruit and one vegetable and somehow they are more inclined to eat the healthy items after choosing them at the farmer’s market.

But my FAVORITE thing was when I was walking distance from the Corona del Mar farmer’s market. I was for about 10 years!! And “my salsa guy” as we deemed him, made THE best salsa ever!!! But he only sells there and south county. Sometimes now my husband and I plan beach day just because we want salsa!
